As far as I know, there's no evidence that twist movies fail on home video, and the idea of "home video" sales as being relevant in the financial efficacy of a film is out of date. Most of a film's money is made at the box office today, and through licensing agreements with streaming services. Not a single producer I've talked to recently has even brought up post-cinema sales as a concern, and the "direct to video" market has been completely replaced by the "Netflix Original".
Also, as a young director, having a film easily referencable for a creative twist is a great calling card to move forward and get more industry work. Just look at M. Night, he threw his weight behind Sixth Sense as a budding director and has been financially successful ever since and gets consistent work. If you believe in the script, I'd say go for it.
