The shark in Jaws was neither real nor CGI. It was a mechanical being (called "Bruce") that kept breaking down on set. That is supposedly why we don't see much of the beast in the movie. Instead, we often see a point-of-view (POV) shot from the shark's perspective with John Williams's pounding and relentless music playing.
