Question

I’m looking for a film from between the 1980s and 1990s. Two cops work together to take down a dangerous criminal. One cop is a funny goofball and the other one is serious and effective. The funny guy was a complete comedian. Big brutal fight happens at the end between main bad guy and serious cop. The reason I remember is because both characters took so much punishment and I remember being outside. What is the name of the movie?

I am not sure that there is quite enough information to identify this film. The "Buddy-Cop" genre of movies was huge world wide in the 80's and 90's, especially coming out of "Asia."

Things to think about to narrow it down might be:

What country did it come from? It probably came out of China, but could easily be Japanese, possibly Korean, Thai etc.

Do any of the heroes, or the villain(s) have distinctive attributes - are they tall/short, over or under weight, I am sure you would have mentioned it, but are all of the characters male/human/"Asian"?

Are you sure that they were both cops? could one of them have been a private detective, criminal, or other profession? I can think of dozens of examples in American cinema - 48 Hours, Lethal Weapon, The Last Boyscout, The Hard Way, Ride Along, Cop out...

Do you think that you might recognize any of the actors? Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung were both very active during the 80's and 90's, but so were a dozen other lesser known martial artist/actors, perhaps their looks were distinctive enough to trigger some recognition?
