Hello!
So for every 1 mile there are 5280 feet.
So when Jeremy walks his first mile, that's 5280 feet and then he walks his second mile, which is another 5280 feet and then he walk another half mile which would be 5280(1/2) feet. To put this in an equation:
2.5 miles x 5280 feet = 13,200 feet
1 1 mile
You want miles to cancel so that's why you put feet in the numerator (top) and miles in the denominator. When you multiply your units your miles will cancel since (miles/miles) = 1.
I hope this helps!
