Emvironmental factors that can have negative impacts on infants under the age of two can be chips of lead paint on window sills, although we have known for decades of this danger, some older homes and apartments can still have leaden sills. Lead slows brain development and can cripple motor skills. The Romans used lead pipe for their e ust, , which harmed and even killed countless numbers and indirectly led to the fall of the empire of Rome.
Another environmental factor is allergies, from being allergic to certain foods to pet animals, toddlers can face everything from itching to having anaphylactic shock! The latter can lead to hospitalization and even death. Fortunately many doctors prescribe epinephrine pens for these occasional flareups. Environmental allergies can also be from dust, ragweed, certain fabrics, flooring, and cleansers, almost anything, and be just as deadly.
