Hi Brandon, I always start with Google when I'm looking for information, and when I put in "rossen stonen" most hits were for Rosetta Stone. Could this be what you are looking for? If so, go ahead and Google "Rosetta Stone" and learn about the fascinating history of one chunk of rock changed our understanding of languages!

Wow, make this difficult for us, why don't you? I assume you are referring to the Rosetta Stone.
It is one of the greatest gifts to archaeologists of all time. The "stone" is a substantial stone monument created under orders of the Egyptian pharaoh Ptolemy V. The document issues a decree in three different scripts: ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, Demotic, and early Greek. Once researchers realized that the same announcement was the focus of all three scripts, they hunted for common words in the Greek text, then tried to find the same repeating patterns in the other languages. Names like "Ptolemy" proved to be the key to finding translation mechanisms. Over time, we learned to read all of the languages on the Stone.
