Question

Starting with one bacterium, how many bacterial cells would be expected from 6 cycles of Binary Fission?

 

Is 62 correct?

1st cycle = 2 = 2¹

2nd cycle = 4 = 2²

3rd cycle = 8 = 2³

4th cycle = 16 = 2⁴

nth cycle = 2ⁿ

 

Therefore the 6th cycle = 2⁶ = 64
