Hi Miss
The invasion of bacteria into the blood is sepsis or septicemia. Nisseria meningitidis are the cause of meningococcal sepsis and could lead to meningitis. Relatively harmless, this organism multiplies rapidly if it gains entry into the blood stream. The blood brain barrier could be compromised leading to infection of the brain.
The organism releases toxins while growing in the blood causing hemmoraging (leakage of blood from blood vessels). Loss of blood results in breathing difficulties (heavy breathing), fever, cold hands and feet and rash.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have questions.
Regards
Sanjay
