Hi Ally,
There are a few ways you can set up an essay that compares and contrasts two subjects. The most common way, and probably the easiest, introduces both subjects in the introduction, followed by your thesis. Your body paragraphs will introduce one difference each. An important thing to remember in this type of essay is that you are comparing AND contrasting. Don't forget to mention how your subjects are similar, too. You can do this in the introduction and conclusion only (a sentence like, "Though dolphins and sharks both live in the ocean, they come from different animal groups.") or you can set up a body paragraph outlining their similarities.
Good luck!
