Explain how the Civil War and the failures of Reconstruction caused the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Was the civil rights movement a success?

Homework help, regarding the effects of the Civil War & the failures of the Reconstruction? I have to write an essay on this topic. I have a general ideal but i feel like i'm lacking detail. Any help is very much appreciated thank you :)

In some ways the Civil war and reconstruction was considered a failure was because of all the loss of life of Americans. One side was fighting to keep their way of life and wouldn't accept change. Slavery was getting abolished so alot of Plantation owners felt threatened because they had no slaves to work the fields, farms, etc. The other side was fighting basically for a better quality of life and obeying the constitution that all men were created equal.That meant all men. Then came along the civil rights movement which in alot of ways made progress and was successful, but at the same time you still have racism that exists till this day, which might i say is something the world will never get rid of.   Hows that for an answer??

well that was kind of the short version,,i think he said it was an essay paper,,in any case, don't forget to include a few ways the civil rights movement helped. Like ending segregation. Black voter rights, etc. And always keep in mind, If your writing an essay most of your grade is going to be based on correct spelling and the correct usage of your punctuation

as far as racism goes. The civil rights movement didn't help matters much because there might have been Martin Luther King Jr. but you have to include Malcom X, Black panthers , etc. theres a negative to every positive if you think about it. yes it ended segregation and gave African americans the right to vote.and equal rights. That's a big part of the reason why employers have E.O.E (equal opportunity employer) on their applications. Anyway i hope this helps you.If it did or didn't, don't forget to rate me helpful or not.. Ill be on for a bit if you need anymore suggestions. I Just started this tutor job yesterday.

In what ways were the Civil War and Reconstruction considered a failure?
 
What were the reasons behind the Civil Rights movement?  Martin Luther King Jr., etc.
 
Did the Civil Rights movement solve all of the issues present at the time?
 
Answering these questions will show you how one section of history leads directly into the another and why.  If it were not for the failures, the following movements would not have taken place.
 
This would be a fact based paper, with a true opinion of the author stated.
