"I'm here as indifference breaks
like a grey day's unexpected sun"

I believe it means that "I" (the speaker) breaks through or dispels "indifference" in the way that the sun breaking through the clouds on a grey (overcast or cloudy) day dispels darkness. That is just what I think it means
