What about Spanish grammar is unique from other languages?

If not, here is a copy of my answer: First off, let's state what Spanish grammar shares with some other languages. To some extent it shares many aspects with a romance language such as Portuguese. The elements it may share include especially word order and perhaps some vocabulary similarity. On the other hand, word order would, similarly, make it differ from other languages. For example, an Asian language such as Chinese would have certain key differences in word order. If you choose one sentence from Spanish and compare it to a sentence with the same meaning in another language you will quickly see some grammar differences. (It's easy to write two sentences in two different languages using the internet.) Here is one example: Spanish Today I am very happy Chinese 今天我很开心。 Jīntiān wǒ hěn kāixīn. today I very happy Notice that Chinese leaves out the pure verb form. I hope this short overview helps.
