How can Deaf and Hard of Hearing people improve their English grammar skills?

Many learners find ASL grammar quite different from English. What are the main grammatical features that set ASL apart, and how do these differences affect learning the language?

One of the most challenging parts of ASL is the complex syntax used in sentence structure, which follows a "time-topic-comment" system in addition to facial movements, rather than English's more standard "subject-object-verb". For Deaf people trying to better their English grammar, the best exercise would likely be reading lengthy prose/novels, as repeated exposure to the language for longer periods of time would greatly boost comprehension.
