That is a great question and one most parents have during the summer break. One of the first things I would need to do is to have a conversation with your child about math and how they feel about the previous year and what they can expect moving forward to next year. I would give them a diagnostic test (an informal assessment) to identify any learning gaps, any concept deficiencies and to better understand their particular learning style. Having taught math for 20+ years in public schools I have been thoroughly trained for these evaluations and conversations and have full confidence that I can help your child maintain their math proficiency and prepare them for the upcoming school year. Please reach out to me if you think I would be a good fit for your child.
How can I get a elementary / middle school math tutor to fill in gaps in my child's learning this summer to prepare for next school year.

26 years working with PreK - 3rd grade
To help fill in your child's math gaps over the summer and prepare them for next school year, I start by identifying the specific skills they need through a quick diagnostic assessment or by reviewing any past schoolwork you’re able to share. From there, I create a personalized plan that targets those areas while reinforcing key grade-level standards. My background is in early childhood and primary education, specifically Pre-K through 3rd grade.
Each session is focused, engaging, and builds confidence step by step. I also incorporate review of previous concepts to ensure a solid foundation before introducing new material. My goal is not just to help your child catch up, but to go into the next school year feeling ready, capable, and even ahead in their learning.
I'm available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Central Time, and I’m flexible if you need weekend support or schedule changes. I’d love to talk more about your child’s needs and how I can support them!
You’re already on the right track by recognizing the importance of filling in learning gaps over the summer—it’s one of the best ways to boost your child’s confidence and set them up for a strong start next school year! I specialize in helping elementary and middle school students build a solid foundation in math by identifying and addressing those gaps in a supportive, engaging way.
My approach is personal and student-centered. I begin with a quick skills check to pinpoint exactly where your child might need support. From there, I create a customized plan that targets those areas while also reinforcing key concepts for the upcoming grade. I make learning interactive and fun, so your child not only understands the "how," but also the "why" behind math concepts.
Whether your child needs help with basic facts, word problems, fractions, or pre-algebra, I’m here to meet them at their level and help them grow. Summer tutoring sessions are flexible, focused, and designed to reduce stress while building skills and confidence.
Let’s work together to make sure your child feels ready, capable, and confident heading into the new school year!
Drop me a line. I'm the tutor your child needs.
