Hi Grace! I can definitely understand how things can get confusing when native speakers talk really fast. A great way to practice those listening skills is to watch movies or shows multiple times. Pick any movie or show that is recorded in English. I know a lot of people have used the show Friends to help them learn English. Start by watching the show in your native language with English subtitles. Then watch it again in English with subtitles in your native language. Since you're already aware of what's happening, you should be able to follow along a little bit easier. Finally, you should watch it again in English without any subtitles to see if you gathered everything.

Thank you so much for your kind and helpful reply! Yes, that’s exactly how I feel — I know the words, but when native speakers talk fast, I can’t catch them. It’s a bit frustrating sometimes. I’ll definitely try watching shows with subtitles and slower speed like you said. Actually, I’ve heard words like “gonna” and “whaddya” before, but they spoke so fast that I thought they were completely new words! Now I understand better — that really helps! Thanks again for your support!07/01/25
