Which is more accurate ,my friend promised that he ………..me as soon as the plane arrives a)will phone b)would phone please I want an immediate answer

No this is the full sentence there was 2 more given options for answers but I know they are wrong so i just isolated the two options that l’m sure that they are definitely wrong but yeah this the full sentence

Good to know. As others have mentioned, both versions prove grammatically correct. However, I ultimately agree with Rhea that “would phone” is more appropriate given that the promising occurred in the past (“promised”).

Isn’t that a reported speech so I have to take a step back in terms of the time of the sentence so would would be better here and he didn’t change the plane maybe because the plane has a specific time table which the human don’t Thanks for responding anyway!!
