Historically, most of us enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, french fries, corn-on-the cob, Boston creme pie, cole slaw, and fried chicken, iced tea. or coke on the 4th of July celebrations. But how many people know about the strife, struggles, and slaughter that underscore our history? From whence did we come? What constitutes an America? How came we here? In recent times we learn our arrival in terms of myths, fairy tales, and racist, xenophobia. Why? What clouds our thinking that are are white, Anglo, Saxons. The answer is painful. We come from diverse cultures. The wave of immigrants, non-English speaking people can enjoy our country five years ago. Why now are we afraid to speak out and discuss the causes.

According to western philosophers, religious modernists, and psychologists, critical thinkers, and rationalists, shame is the biggest anxiety-producer, for it's like a demon that robs one of tranquility, sleep, balance, action, creativity, and joy, like a thief, and it (shame) sucks out the very life force, breath, discernment, and peace of mind that lasts, and it remains an eternal, uncanny emptiness, feeding relentlessly on one's soul.

What are irrational demagogues and pundits doing when they spread nasty rhetoric of shame? Like a plague their hatred causes chaos and hate-driven violence. Their rhetoric of hate corrupts us because it acts as an external force that robs us of our joy of life; we are flooded by dogma and extreme ideological nonsense, and we are under pressure to grin and bear nonsense. Why? These miscreants spit out slurs like rowdies at a drunken party. Replace hate with kindness. Replace violence with rational discourse. Respect for others precedes understanding, rational ethos, and grace, compassion, and spirituality.

According to psychologists, progressive thinkers, inspired thinkers from classical times, as well as 18th-19th Enlightenment philosophers, including artists, spiritual teachers, and such writers as Immanuel Kant, Goethe, and Friedrich Schlegel from previous eras, the inspired, spiritual gurus like St. Thomas Aquinas discussed the first natural law as the Golden Rule---Do unto Others as you would have them do unto you.

We can understand moral law in terms of doing good for humanity, our community, and or families, and not doing evil, harm or ill-will to others, including our nation.

I am a kind teacher, committed to knowledge, wisdom, and the forms and techniques if rhetorical debate, the parts of speech, the rules of grammar, evidence, and science, and I have a moral law of being a mentor and teacher of grace, careful to demonstrate my skills without deception, spurious argument, or sleight of hand. First, I abhor simplistic and biased thinking, devoid of creativity, wild nonsequential nonsense, based on hearsay, misinformation, gossip, and unproven facts. Unless fact can be attached to math, history, science, or legal precedence, I reject instant wisdom, generated by snake-oil prophets of fortune-cooker masters of profiteers or the quid pro pundits of reality shows.

My definitions of a classic novel differs from a teenager's perspective in many ways: I read books from cover to cover. I write down my thoughts in the margins of the test. I underline, highlight, annotate allusions, and I define important definitions passages that I find critical to supporting my evidence, so I do not rely on the Cliff Notes or unreliable sources. I read the classic novel first-hand; I prove my own thesis; I reject biased sources; I use rhetorical, classical methods, not AI, undocumented and dubious propaganda.
