Struggling in intro level college Biology courses?
3 Answers By Expert Tutors
Hello, thank you for taking the time to post your question!
There are lots of resources available if you find yourself struggling in your intro level college biology course. Typically your textbook or course portal will come with access to online resources like practice quizzes, animations, and videos. Your professor might also provide study guides, practice exams, or other materials that could help you prepare for tests. And then a tutor can be helpful, so that could mean someone on Wyzant or you could check to see if you have access to an on-campus tutoring center.
Hopefully that gets you moving in the right direction! Feel free to reach out with a message if you have any questions beyond that! :)
Hi!
If you are struggling with your intro level Bio classes, there are tons of resources that can help. Depending on what you are studying, I love the channel the Amoeba sisters as it explains the basics concepts of cellular biology in a digestible way. Biology is also a subject which requires a lot of memorization, so creating a quizlets of terms, or making practice tests for yourself can really help with active recall. However if there are any concepts that despite watching videos you still don't quite understand, talking to your professor or finding a tutor either at your school or online might be able to break things down in a digestible way.
I can help! I felt frustrated as an aspiring Biology major when my freshman year college courses were not clicking. College science courses, especially those required for the pre-med track, are designed to weed out students and have a learning curve. I learned that seeking help during these times is a strength, not a weakness. I fell in love with college Biology and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Biology this past May. I want to help you achieve your goals and get Biology to click!

Hello, I understand your struggle and have been there! Sometimes a concept is frustrating to learn because you feel like you aren't making any progress. Or no matter what you do, you can't seem to get it straight in your mind. If that is you, take a deep breath, you are doing better than you think you are. You probably already have studied this material once before and it is just a matter of tapping into your prior understanding. Things that help: - Reach out to your professor - Identify 2-3 other students in the class that seem to know the material and try learning from them. - Find a friend you think also needs help. You can practice explaining concepts to them. Verbalizing the information you learn can be helpful! All of these suggestions help change your perspective on material. Don't give up! We are cheering you on and here to help. Send biology questions as needed!6d
