A compelling piece of art starts with story. Composition follows that story. Films and movies actually follow a lot of what art rules tell them-why do our eyes follow a certain path? Why do our eyes naturally get drawn to one area of the drawing? It's because the other elements of the drawing naturally guides us there. There are a ton of different compositions, and you can search them up on google to see which one.
A good exercise I like to do is to have a story in mind and try 5 different thumbnail sketches with different known compositions and see which one captures the vision I had the most. If you'd like more info, feel free to reach out!
