For your hook you want to motivate your research/thesis topic while snagging the audience's attention. It should speak to the problem your hypothesis seeks to solve.
Example 1: "Caffeine consumption disrupts sleep in [X]% of people, leading to higher overall motility and morbidity compared to those who have [Y] hours of undisrupted sleep." speaks to a problem with caffeine, which could be the main theme of your thesis.
Example 2: "To this day, there are no effective over-the-counter remedies for AHDH." speaks to a knowledge gap in the field. This would be used in a thesis where the main point is 'today we found a way to medicate ADHD with common caffeine!'***
I recommend you look for a communications lab or communications hub at your school, and see if they have any resources as to the school's preferred thesis structure. Here is an example of a great resource for EECS paper writing [specifically looking at the introduction]: https://mitcommlab.mit.edu/eecs/commkit/journal-article-introduction/
***disclaimer: there is no known evidence that caffeine is effective for medicating ADHD.
