Hi there,
I believe the best way to improve your conversational French or Spanish is through language immersion. This can be done in different settings and for different time durations. You can do this at home or abroad. It all depends on what truly interests you, and how to tailor it to your needs.
I started learning Spanish in a classroom setting. When the teacher started teaching us verbs, I made sure to practice those verbs by saying things entirely in Spanish. The feedback I received was very helpful and I would always write down my mistakes along with corrections in my notebook. If there was something that I didn't understand, I would ask the teacher or look it up.
When I was in college, I decided to study abroad in Spain. This was very helpful, since I was absorbing so much in real time. Living with a host family helped a lot, since they couldn't communicate with me in English. Therefore, I was forced out of my comfort zone by communicating with them entirely in Spanish. If something wasn't clear, I would say it differently.
Traveling also helped me learn different dialects of Spanish. I have visited Peru and Puerto Rico, and learned so much just by communicating with the locals.
You can also learn through the news, movies, music, and reading posts on the Internet. I like to read posts online and read the comments. This helps me see how Spanish verbs are being used in different ways.
It truly takes patience, time, and practice! Also, it is okay to make mistakes when you are learning.
I wish you all the best on your language journey!
