Hey, I hope I'm not too late. Remain calm, 750 words is, doable. You can do it. Because you've posted the entire prompt, I'm assuming you don't know where to start, so start by making a list of the themes in Cyrano de Bergerac, I haven't read the play, but from reading the summary, it seems like some might be "Class," "Performance," and "Beauty and Physical Appearance," anything that the play comments on. If you're worried about not having enough words, pick a theme that the play comments on frequently. What's most important, though, is that you pick one that excites you, maybe one that you consider often in your own life. Picking something juicy will make the essay far easier to write. Then, to develop your question, think about the theme, and the world outside of the play at the same time. (Beauty and Physical appearance/The playwright's love life), (Performance/French Standards of Self-Presentation in the late 1800s), etc. It appears that your teacher wants you to consider your question's significance through time (play's background, playwright, modern-retellings), so I would pick a question whose answers involve multiple time periods. With your question determined, it's time to research the answer. Once you've found your answer, write an intro, show three ways you got there (or maybe you've found three answers) (body paragraphs), and then write a conclusion! I hope this was helpful!

Develop an open-ended question regarding a theme of the play and use that question to drive your research. Next, research content related to Cyrano DeBergerac to help answer this question. This should include looking into the play’s background, playwright, timeframe, historical significance, and its modern-day retellings. Analyze the play through the open-ended question you developed. Write at least five paragraphs for this essay in MLA format dissecting the ins and outs of this classic play. Write a minimum of 750 words.
