Does the "that always read" and "that would always read" have different meanings?

The second one indicates that the action of reading was ongoing during a certain period of time but technically they are not different in meaning.

Amy: Isn't there a verb missing in the last phrase for the first one? Sentence: You would send me messages that always read. Sentence reads awkward without the verb "were" as the past tense for "to be." Correct: You would send me messages that "were" always read. Without a verb here, the sentence makes no sense. So, I'm inclined to advise that the latter is correct: Correct: You would send me messages that I'd (I would) always read. Is there a larger context that I'm missing?

Read is the verb in the first one. This seems like a small portion of a poem that would be finished in the next few lines. The second example seemed clunky.

Ahhh ... I see. Both are strangely written. Verbs missing in both. Both are really strangely written. So, I agree with you, Amy. I still think both sentences are awkward.
