If a wordless picture book has an author, is it correct to say that the author of the book wrote the book?

But then is it correct to say that the author of the wordless picture book wrote the book. I am asking this question because the web page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Ball_for_Daisy says that 'A Ball for Daisy' is a 2011 children's wordless picture book written and illustrated by Chris Raschka. See the first sentence.

So do you mean to say that for a wordless picture book to have an author, the author has to at least write the original message which is conveyed through the pictures in the picture book?
