One could argue that the floods in Pakistan are still a current event despite it happening in 2022 because the impacts are still heavily felt today. A third of Pakistan was literally underwater, millions of people were displaced from their homes, 1,700 people died, and the economy suffered billions of dollars. According to United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, "1.8 million people are still living near contaminated and stagnant floodwater". Additionally, scientists are linking global warming to the flood which of course impacts not only neighboring countries but the entire globe. We have been speculating for some time about what the impacts of climate change could be and this serves as one grave example.

Two questions: what are our leaders doing in order to mitigate disasters like these happening in the future due to climate change?

Knowing 33 million people were affected by the floods, is Pakistan's government providing free healthcare and economic support to those people?
