The best, most effective ways in which to prepare for an upcoming exam are to do the following:
*Always take written notes of your own on the material that you are learning in all of your classes.
*Hold onto those notes at all times; never lose them.
*Look over those notes of yours in tandem with your completed classwork and homework assignments throughout the course of the entire school year in order to review the learned information every step of the way.
*Ask relevant questions and participate in class discussions at all times.
*Approach the teacher for help if and whenever you need it--in person during class, during your teacher's office hours, and through email also.
*Form study groups with your classmates so that you can all review the content together and bounce ideas off of each other in order to gain a better overall understanding of the material at hand on which you will be tested.
*Look over a study guide (if one is provided by your teacher) from top to bottom for the upcoming test.
*Create your own study guide based on what your teacher says is going to be on the test.
*Last but certainly not least: try your very best not to stress yourself out about the test because it will drain your mental and physical energies and you may end up not doing as well on the test as you had hoped as a result.
Good luck!
