While you haven't provided the piece in question, I can tell you that connotation is an idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning. Therefor, the anaphora (the repeated use of the word vivid) and an in depth look at that word's meaning (producing powerful feelings or strong, clear images in the mind), leads me to believe that the key to your answer lies within the imagery present within the text. Look again for powerful descriptions which help you to paint a mental picture of what the author is conveying to you. The adjectives and imagery throughout should also convey to you a specific tone as you analyze the positively or negatively charged theme throughout.
Certainly hope this helps.
