Every individual will hold their own perspectives as they attempt to answer this question, which is valuable as it helps us to provide informed and meaningful responses to it.
Consider whether those eligible to participate in U.S. elections are still fully able to support the candidates of their choice. Consider how freedoms of religion, speech, assembly, due process, enterprise, and many other civil liberties relate to the U.S. constitution and whether they are still widely respected across the United States.
Recent changes to gerrymandering and voter ID laws in particular may soon affect free and fair representation across all branches of the U.S. government. If I was a founding individual of the U.S., I would emphasize respect for registered voters closer to what had been practiced between the Civil Rights Era and when voter ID laws had been enacted over the past 20 years (although that time period in and of itself was far from perfect). Property ownership, certain photos, and unjustly altered registration conditions should not affect eligible voters as they try to participate fairly in democratic elections. Think about how such factors may have unfortunately changed the course of many recent elections, particularly in the Midwestern and Southern regions of the U.S.
In terms of the structure of the republic itself, it has also arguably been altered considerably in a short amount of time. If I was involved in the founding of the United States, I would advocate for clear and inviolable parameters regarding the President's capacity to enact executive orders. The President should be entrusted with maintaining the security and prosperity of the nation, and not sow seeds of divisiveness and exclusion amongst their constituents.
Thank you again for asking this question, as it is more relevant than ever in 2025! Every respondent is entitled to their own policy stances as they work through this question. Respectful and in-depth debates on policy issues definitely enhance democracy itself!
