In the book Moby Dick, does Ishmael survive by means of cannibalism?

Would he be considered a cannibal? If not, why does he ask “who is not a cannibal?”, implying that everyone is one?

The emphasis on cannibalism, is a greater reference to men killing wild animals for sport rather than to survive. IE the Figee who preserved the body knowing that winter would be harsh and he might die of hunger, versus the man (Ahab) who chased down a whale out of spite.
