Hello Rayden,
If a graph is translated "down", that means it is moving (negatively) down the y axis. And if it is being translated to the right, it is moving (positively) on the x axis.
This can be expressed like g(x) = m(x+2) -4.
In an equation where g(x) = mx + b
Since "b" is the y intercept, whatever number "b" is, will shift the graph upwards or downwards (on the y axis). In this case, it was translated down 4 units, so b = (-4).
plug "b" into the equation and you get:
y = mx + (-4)
Next, since the graph is shifted to 2 units to the right, this means it is moving in a positive direction, which can be represented with the plus sign in the equation. Since x is being modified, it is added right after the "x".
g(x) = m(x+2) + (-4)
Hope this helps!
Best,
Liang
