It's probably the use of "search for." Normally, "search for" is used when trying to find physical objects or people, like lost keys or a lost pet. When looking for facts or the reason why something is the way it is, some common phrases are "I am going to find out" or "figure out." Though you could also say "I am going to search for the reason why I am X;" basically when using "search for," you want to follow it up with a noun that is being searched for, whether that be a sock or a person, a reason or a meaning. The sentence sounds odd when "search for" is followed up by a phrase like "why I am X" where "search for" is not directly followed by a noun.
