I think these are some tough words for a short story because you have to be super creative to make sense, but it can be done. Also, your sentences certainly don't have to be short, but of course they do have to make sense. The key to this assignment is to plot out a reasonable story. I've given you an idea below, but obviously I can't write the story for you. You just have to make sure that you use the words correctly (when in doubt look up their definitions in a dictionary.) You set the scene, suggest a plot line, and then set up some tension so that you move the story along. Then use the words to add to the story and voila! You've got a ten sentence story and you're done. Good luck! If you need further help, contact me and I can work with you.
P.S. In this context I'm using "embryo" to suggest a beginning of an idea.
For example:
Steam from melting ice rose off the frozen lake as James stood in the early spring sunshine. He'd had an idea, just an embryo of one the day before, but now he realized that he would have to generate money another way.

It's an interesting take on this question, certainly learning the definitions of the words is an excellent point. But would the words always have to have something in common to be part of a fictional story?01/03/23
