Mediated communication has taken over during the pandemic as people were confined to their homes and unable to meet in-person to communicate. Some examples of mediate communication are telephone conversations, emails, videoconferencing, etc. People had no choice but to communicate this way during the pandemic because, especially at its peak in 2020, in-person communication was extremely limited. Due to this, people had to resort to mediated communication in order to work, talk to friends and family, do virtual school, and much more. For example, Zoom, the virtual videoconferencing platform, hosted millions of students as in-person schools were shutdown due to the pandemic. This in itself encouraged mediated communication and is just one example of how it took over.
