Am i using "piercing" correctly here? I intend to use it in the sense that the sunbeams are going in between the treetops (leaves & branches) and trunks of the trees..

The sunbeams are piercings the trees.

Oh, that is a typo. So, in the way I'm using the word, it doesn't literally mean that the sunbeams are going through the (physical) wood, leaves, and brances of the trees?

Yes, just say, The sunbeams are piercing the trees.

This use of "piercing" is figurative, not literal. The effect of the sunlight would often be called 'dappled'.
