The first thing to do is make quarts and ounces "talk to each other."

There are 32 ounces in a quart, so 2 quarts would be...64 ounces. And we know that would cost 2.79.

But we only need to know what eight ounces would cost.

If you pour 8-oz glasses from a 64 ounce bottle, you'll get 64/8 ("64 divided by 8"), which equals...8 glasses.

So how much does ONE of those EIGHT glasses cost?

Take the 2.79 cost and divide it by 8, and you get...

34 and 7/8 cents. But WHAT??? There's no such thing as 7/8 of a cent, right?

Notice the question asks "about" how much would 8 ounces cost. You got an answer that's between 34 cents and 35 cents, but the 7/8 takes it much closer to the 35. So... the answer is 35 cents. :-)
