Why did you study fine art?

Art seemed to be born in my bones. I had no choice but to follow it down whatever rabbit hole it lured me into and art school seemed like a fair choice to allow time and to provide a sort of incubation period to grow into the work. It was a way to have a voice and all the chaos of the world could be translated through its wisdom.

I only 'studied' Fine Art Figurative Painting after a 35 year successful career as an artist illustrator. I am self taught. I studied Figurative Painting at the Academy of Art, San Francisco in order to obtain an MFA required for a full time academic position.

Everyone has their own reasons for why they were interested in studying fine arts. I find great joy in creating. I love the process of creating. Watching something go from nothing into something beautiful or meaningful is a process that I get joy from. I also like impacting others. My artwork can bring pleasure to others and enhance their surroundings or make them think or be reminded of something. I took my fine arts knowledge a step further and became a trained art educator because I wanted others to experience that same feeling of purpose and meaning that I did.
