Statistics is an area of study and practice that analyzes empirical data. It also describes a methodology for the gathering and interpretation of such data. Statistics relates to critical thinking in that the process of asking questions, seeking relevant and valid answers to those questions and then applying the resulting answers to real-world contexts is an act of critical reasoning. That said, in the interest of providing a critical answer, statistics can be subject to varied interpretations depending on things like context and bias.
