What makes a Great leader? Describe what one looks like in school?
A Great leader is someone whom others will FOLLOW!
A leader is competent, knowledgeable...and diligent,
---is accountable, responsible, dependable
---can LEAD, direct, guide in confidence (fairly, justly)
---can build teams/groups - to work on same goals for the school
---manage/develop/nurture relationships and prioritize task development
---models social skills/people skills/delegates - operates above & beyond self-interest
---cooperates on/embraces vision/mission/plan for the school
---is a supportive mentor --balances monitoring of discipline, reinforcement of performance, and praise
delivery
---are positive, motivators, encouragers, passionate
---can maintain order, structure - supervise
---are active listeners, patient, sympathetic, empathetic
---are cross-cultural communicators, civic-minded
---are prepared, ready, certified, stay current-know technology
---have emotional intelligence (honest, humble, self-aware, honorable, loyal, trustworthy, reliable, ethical,
moral, have a good set of core values)
---are adaptive to change (flexible)
---can analyze data toward improving goals - different perspectives/opportunities for increased productivity
---can monitor, report safety/security concerns to authority
---assist in upkeep of environment - organized, neatness, cleanliness, sanitary
---LEAD by example (role-model)
---are constant, consistent, present, strategic decision maker, problem solver
---are willing to SERVE -in the Bible it says to serve means serving others from a place of selflessness and sacrifice.
The Scripture says that a LEADER is self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, and able to teach.
