Hi Lila,
I know this question is a bit old, but I'm going to answer it anyway, just in case someone else comes along wanting similar information.
Fun fact: the word "renaissance" comes from the French word meaning "rebirth" which this time period literally was - a "rebirth" of new ideas, philosophy, art, inventions, political thoughts...you mention it....people were full of new ideas.... following the Middle Ages. This took place between the 14th and 17th century, and is considered the cultural bridge between that dark time period to our modern-day civilization.
Famous people that came from this time period include people we still talk about today like Leonardo da Vinci - amazing all around super guy - painter, architect and genius inventor of mechanical things like a self-propelled cart and the parachute, but also things well beyond his time period like the bicycle, helicopter, submarine and even military armored tank - centuries before their time - he was a great visionary. You might know him for arts of work like the "Mona Lisa" or "The Last Supper".
This was also a time period for star gazers, or astronomers, working with new found telescopes to discover stars and moons and pioneer the mapping of our solar system, like Galileo and Capernicus.
But it wasn't just all science and math, there were philosphers and writers and poets as well. Geoffrey Chaucer, English poet who is known for "Canterbury Tales" and who can forget the famous saying "I think, therefore I am," by Rene Descartes, French philospher.
I would suggest going to the History Channel website - they have some great resources on there, as well as some videos and shows that may be of interest. Enjoy!
