Fourth-year medical student with great experience in all sciences!
Math, in my opinion, is the language of the sciences. It is the quintessential foundation that provides meaning and reproducibility within every subject of the major sciences. Without math, we would be unable to interpret data, solve equations, and either confirm or deny hypotheses that advance these fields.
Math is not only important for the sciences, but for real-world applications as well. It provides the infrastructure for civilizations to thrive; ancient civilizations that had a strong grasp of mathematical concepts are still talked about today.
As you say, without math we would not have the technological advances that allow me to communicate almost instantaneously with students who may be 2,000 miles away. There would be no technology as you know it, everything depends on math.
So in short, math is very useful.
