Hello! You are correct that with either seasonal or food allergies our immune system ramps up. The increased production of Histamine does play a role. With the increase inflammation which pertains to liquid and movement of immune cells throughout the body, this helps in boosting immunity.
Now I would not say allergies "prevent" infections as we need to not forget the role of antigen+antibodies. If the immune cell, even if upregulated, does not have the matching antibody, we still may be prone to specific infections.
Hope this helps! Message me if you have any questions!
Kind regards,
Jonathan

Thanks for replying, So in other words the more the allergies you have, the higher the chances you produce a antibody to a dissease's similar antigen (even tho there can be billions of different antigens). The odds just add up, right?09/12/22
