Macbeth lets ambition and hubris compromise his loyalty, his honor, and his integrity. With the slightest suggestion of a future crown, he turns traitor and murderer. His vile actions and the resulting guilt are no match for the confidence he has built with the encouragement of his wife, so he dives ever deeper toward the point of no return. Eventually, his arrogance claims not only his reputation, but his life.
