This is the best answer because the evidence is stated in the synopsis.
The setting is a small kingdom (medieval Denmark) , which allows for a conflict between Claudius (Hamlet's uncle, Claudius) and Hamlet's father (his father, the former king) over who would be the king (taken the throne).
