Passionate College Student Looking to Help Other Students
Hysteria is an important message from The Crucible. Community members turned on each other believing they were worshipping the devil and committing heinous crimes without evidence of doing so. Some people saw this mass hysteria as an opportunity for personal gain. For example, Abigail Williams used panic to gain social acceptance and put her romantic rival in jail. Without any sufficient evidence, lives were lost and ruined. The Crucible shows the importance of being critical of hysteria. Often, it is baseless and used for the benefit of others.
