Hi Destiny,
I'm currently teaching Romeo and Juliet to my 9th-grade students! In Act 4, Scene 4 the mood is impatient or tense. In Act 4, Scene 5 the mood is somber (sad).
To determine the mood, look at descriptive details, diction (word choice), dialogue, setting and plot.
In this example (Scene 4) the word "haste" is repeated three times. The servants are preparing for Juliet's wedding and Capulet wants them to hurry. Capulet says, "Hie, make haste, / /Make haste; the bridegroom he is come already. / Make haste, I say. In Act 5, after discovering Juliet's dead body, the Nurse says:
"O woe! O woeful, woeful, woeful day!
Most lamentable day, most woeful day
That ever, ever, I did yet behold!
O day! O day! O day! O hateful day!
Never was seen so black a day as this.
O woeful day, O woeful day!
Some form of the word "woe" is used seven times to convey the sadness the Nurse feels. In both examples Shakespeare uses repetition and diction to create the different moods.
