Hi Benjamin!
For the mitochondria, only cellular respiration occurs. For photosynthesis, that takes place in the chloroplasts of the plants which are the organelle that contains chlorophyl (the green pigment) and light, water, and CO2 can be chemically changed into energy for the plant in there as well as the byproduct of the reaction, O2 which is beneficial for us to breathe and through cellular respiration turn back into CO2 for the plant! Chloroplasts are responsible for plants version of cellular respiration, i.e photosynthesis, and the mitochondria is responsible for our cellular respiration! I hope this helps bridge the gap between those two phenomena.
