Hello! My name is Kristin and I graduated Magna Cum Laude from UC San Diego with my Bachelors of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. I also triple minored in Business, Economics and History.

Throughout high school and university, I gained extensive experience as a tutor and TA in supporting my peers and other students in a wide gamut of subjects including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, various branches of Biology, general chemistry and AP Chemistry. Each time, I have found the experience to be incredibly rewarding. Not only do I get to help other students increase their confidence and achieve their academic goals but also I have the opportunity to gain further insight into what works as an effective learning method.

In terms of my tutoring style, I am an advocate of active learning and fostering a comfortable environment for the student to learn. To promote this, I create visuals, curate practice problems, custom-make study sheets for the student, and incorporate various explanations to help students understand different concepts. I constantly ask if the student understands what I just explained and will always encourage asking questions!

I love helping people accomplish their academic goals and would be committed to ensuring your success. If you think we would be a good fit, feel free to contact me!

Random insights into my personality:
- I love dogs, running, tennis, F1, have surfed for 9 years, was on my university's rock climbing team and am an avid Netflix binger :)

Proofreading

Proofreading

During my college career, I wrote over 50+ essays, written 20+ lab reports, helped PhD students complete their papers, and assisted numerous students with their personal statements for undergrad and grad school. As a result, I have quite a bit of experience in researching, writing, analyzing, editing, and proofreading. If you would like assistance, even with better understanding a published research paper, feel free to reach out to me (I also will lower my rate based on the assistance that is required! )

I absolutely loved math classes all throughout middle school and high school. I received in A in Algebra 1, Algebra 2E, Math analysis, Calculus, Geometry and Trigonometry. Oftentimes, I would help my fellow classmates learn how to better understand or approach a problem because I think most subjects can be easy or at least much more manageable if you have the right tools and instruction. Personally, I like to utilize visuals and create my own study sheets that make recalling formulas and methods for solving problems easier. If you are interested in working together, feel free to message me :)
Biology,

Biology

Hello! I received an A in both honors biology and AP biology during my time in high school and passed the AP exam with a 5. Biology is one of my favorite subjects to tutor. During university, I took and excelled in various specific topics of biology, such as endocrinology (A), molecular biology (A) , genetics (A), human reproduction (A), etc. If my style of tutoring seems helpful, feel free to reach out :)
Chemistry,

Chemistry

I received an A in AP chemistry and A's in my general chem classes & labs during college. As someone who used to hate chemistry in high school because of the way my teacher taught the subject, I know some concepts can be difficult to grasp. However, with the right tools, techniques, and teaching methods, chemistry can be much less intimidating!

Thank you!

My daughter received tutoring with Kristin and it has helped her understand her concepts for AP Biology. They mainly worked on pedigrees and probability in genetics. Kristin was very patient and explained all of the concepts well! We highly recommend! Thank you!

Informative and kind tutor.

Was very helpful and descriptive in assisting me with AP Biology. She was also very friendly during our session. I would recommend her for anyone who needs help with Biology.

Impressive Bio and Thorough Help

I chose Kristin quickly out of the half a dozen messages I received because of her impressive alma mater and her message was grammatically correct. I'm not difficult to appeal to. However, I was really impressed by how much work she put in to helping me. She spent a pretty significant chunk of time reviewing the worksheet I needed help with and even went as far as to consult her friends who were in the same field. I don't necessarily expect tutors to put so much work in to helping me BEFORE we even begin the session so I was pleasantly surprised. After the session, it was obvious to me that Kristin knew the material well and so I read her bio (I know, why didn't I read this before the session?) and was blown away by her credentials. I definitely recommend her for anyone who needs help in cellular biology like myself or any of the other courses/areas she covers, which ranges a pretty vast selection.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Kristin is a kind and patient tutor. She has spent several hours assisting me with writing my PhD qualifying exam and provides a lot of constructive feedback. She helped me in structuring my paper, conducting research, editing and was highly responsive to notes from my advisor. I would recommend her.
