"Making fun of someone" typically means in the English language that you are mocking that person by being critical and insulting about something related to that person (clothes, hair, speech, car, house -- just about anything). This statement is not related at all related to what the word "fun" means. Usually, you "make fun of a person" not directly in front of them but secretly to others -- what we call "behind their back" which means without their knowledge. This is gossip; also, it is often an opinion, not a fact, which makes the statements even worse. Of course, later the person you "made fun of" may learn what you said from someone and end the relationship or friendship with you. In most cases, making fun of someone is not appropriate, acceptable, or kind. No religion or moral code in the world suggests that "making fun" is acceptable and in fact, the three main faiths of the world -- Christianity, Islam, and Judaism -- and others also teach that you should treat people and speak about them as YOU would want to be treated and spoken about by others. Would you want someone to be critical about YOU and spread gossip to others? No. Another teaching is the following: If you cannot say something nice or kind about someone, say nothing at all.
