Is E. coli streptobacillus? diplobacillus or staphylobacillus?

E. coli can be found individually or in large clumps which would be thought to correspond to the staphylo- pattern, but due to the cell division patterns of bacilli, the staphylobacillus pattern does not exist in nature. Instead, clustered E. coli are known as palisades.
