The answer is A. We the People....
How is it that you came to be asked this question?
If your teacher gave you this to work on, I think you should consider contacting me for future help with this class. Why?
Why?
Because you could not understand how to do "rule out." What does that mean? Looking through all of the answers and saying to yourself, "Is this what it means? No. So that's not the answer. Let's look at the next one."
a. we the people
b. establish justice
c. ensure the domestic tranquility
d. provide for the common defense
e. promote the general welfare
What does "establish justice" mean to you?
"Ensure the domestic tranquility" You did not realize that you added a word that it not written with this phrase. It is, "ensure domestic tranquility."
The U.S. Constitution, a magnificent document that ensured what John Winthorp described in 1630 would become a, "city upon the hill," where all "eyes" still look to it. Is this still true? Do all of the "eyes" of the world still look to the United States?
True, you must know the thesis of the U.S. Constitution and that is located in its Preamble, however, the most important part of learning this is missing. With a teacher, you must look at that Preamble and its thesis as one whole and NOT AS INDIVIDUAL PARTS. You and your teacher must discuss, asking each other questions to arrive at the true meaning of the Preamble. Otherwise, you will only end up with separate definitions that have no meaning at all. Isn't that what happened to you?
If you attach no meaning to the U.S. Constitution for yourself, you will never understand the greatness of this country nor how fortunate you are to be here. And realize that by learning about the U.S. Constitution, you will be learning about who you are as an American and why Americans are different from all other citizens of all other nations and empires since the beginning of politics. You must know this great document so that you will be able to protect it when people would desire to change it or change it if it is time to do so. You are here. You are part of something very special. You must take responsibility for it because it now belongs to you.
Please let me know if you may need my help. I was once given this great gift when I was young also. And I have safeguarded it. It is now your turn. I will teach you very well how to guard and protect it.
